“One cannot discuss structure in writing without discussing structure in all life; it is impossible to talk about why anybody writes a book or paints a picture or composes a symphony without talking about the nature of the universe.” – Madeleine L’Engle
The art of storytelling is in essence the study of what moves us as human beings. Probing the mechanics of the craft, delicately considering its implications on human emotion, ultimately illuminates the purpose, origin, and destiny of mankind, and equips us to more powerfully impact the heart and mind through fiction.
In Story Matters, I hope to explore seldom-discussed aspects of storytelling and consider tried-and-true methods from new angles while fostering a community of passionate and conscientious storytellers.
“The destiny of the world is determined less by the battles that are lost and won than by the stories it loves and believes in.” – Harold Clarke Goddard
